Working With Me

Clear communication and collaboration from start to finish

As a professional writer, it's my job to be clear and concise.

I have a flexible, creative and collaborative approach with clients, but it is a good idea to have some terms available in plain, jargon-free language.

However, if anything is unclear, please ask me. I’ll be happy to clarify.

Getting started

Let's start by having a conversation, email is best in the first instance, and then we can follow up on the phone/Skype.

Give me as much info as possible at the start.  Don't have a brief? let's write one together, so we're all agreed about what the intentions and expected outcomes are.

Once I've got a clear idea of the scope, I'll give you a quote. I'll send you a quote and a copy of my Terms of Service. I charge by day rate or project fee.

You have 14 days to consider the quote (unless you need to get started sooner) and then I will charge either a 25% or 50% (depending on scope/turnaround) retainer fee payable on the kickoff.

Project fees are fixed. No hidden extras, any expenses for meetings etc are accounted for in the price once the brief has been agreed. Additional charges may be applied if the brief or scope changes during the process.

I usually give an indicative timeline from the initial conversation, but once the project has kicked off, I'll send you a schedule and always leave space for review and feedback.

The price typically includes x 2 rounds of changes (1 for very short deadlines or long form content). Further rounds of changes will be made at a rate of £40 per hour.

Quality Checking

Unless you have an in-house proofreader, I will work with a proofreader and that will be part of the service fee.

I work with clients from all over the world, including Japan, across Europe and North America as well as here in the UK, and I love my international projects. I can help you wherever you are, but I'm available during GMT Mondays-Fridays between 8:30 am and 18:30 pm unless previously agreed. I'm happy to communicate via phone, email, Skype or Slack channels - whichever you prefer.
